In the UK, beloved retailer Argos is renowned for its gigantic catalogue. Even with the digital age upon us, many Argos customers still relish the feel of the Argos book in their hands. From there, 6 in 10 customers continue their Argos shopping journey online, with many checking stock for collection in their nearest store rather than opting for delivery. Now, Argos has teamed up with Google’s voice assistant and Google Home to provide voice-activated shopping for customers.
After flicking through the Argos bible or having a quick scan on the website, customers will soon be able to ask, ‘OK Google, what’s the stock in my nearest store’ or ‘Hey Google, ask Argos to find me a new toaster.’ Google will then ask a few more questions to narrow down the search and, once you’ve found what you needed, will send a notification to your mobile device to complete the order. Products will then be reserved in-store for collection and payment within 2 days.
With over 20,000 products to choose from in the Argos catalogue and with over 95% of the UK population living within 10 miles of an Argos store, the voice-assisted shopping experience could make shopping at Argos a whole lot easier.
